DRUMWIT TIPS

Transport in Prague:

Prague has a very efficient and inexpensive public transport system including metro, trams and buses. Stations are well signposted in English, so it's not difficult to find your way around.

Tickets: You can buy tickets for public transport at metro stations or from ticket machines (also in English). A 30-minute ticket costs around 40 CZK (approximately 1.5 EUR) and is valid for all modes of transport within that time.

1-day, 3-day and 7-day passes: If you plan to use public transport a lot, consider buying a transport pass that gives you unlimited access for a specific number of days (e.g. 3 days for about 330 CZK).

Walking and cycling

Prague is a very accessible city, so you can explore many of the main tourist attractions on foot. However, if you prefer to go faster, you can rent a bicycle or electric bike (there are apps like Rekola to rent them).

Taxi and Uber

Although the public transport system is excellent, if you need a taxi, Uber or Bolt are reliable options and generally cheaper than traditional taxis.

Night tram

If you're staying out late, you can take a night tram that operates from midnight to 4 a.m., covering the city's main routes.

Currency in Prague:

Local currency - Czech Koruna (CZK)

The official currency in Prague is the Czech Koruna (CZK), and they do not use the euro as their official currency (although some places accept euros, they will always give you change in korunas, and the exchange rate is not always favourable).

Currency exchange: Changing money at exchange offices or banks is advisable, but avoid changing money in touristy places, as the rates are often unfavourable. Exchange houses in the centre can have high rates, but there are more favourable options where you won't be charged commissions.

Credit and debit cards

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most shops and restaurants. Make sure your card has no international transaction fees. It's a convenient and safe way to pay.

However, it's always useful to carry some cash for smaller purchases or in places that don't accept cards.

Cash machines

If you need to withdraw cash, there are automatic teller machines (ATMs) throughout the city. Check that the currency exchange option is turned off at the ATM, as banks may charge an unfavourable exchange rate if you don't. Also, some ATMs charge a small fee for withdrawals. Also, some ATMs charge a small fee for withdrawals.

Tipping tips

Although not mandatory, it is common to leave a tip in restaurants of around 10% to 15% if the service has been good. It is often not necessary to tip in bars, but if you wish, a small amount is appreciated.
